Ben Ford, Vice President of National Development at Perfect Game, announced that the Perfect Game 14U Select Baseball Festival will return in 2021. This is the 6th annual edition of the country’s premier showcase for all of the 14U level in all of youth baseball.
The rosters are comprised of the top 48 age-eligible prospects from across the nation and most will come from the national high school class of 2024. The players are identified and selected through a series of Perfect Game events. The players are selected based on their performances at Perfect Game 14U events held throughout the summer. Those can include attendance at one of PG 14U regional showcases from where they can earn an invitation to the 2021 PG 14U National Showcase.
Like the older installments of the All-American Games, the players in the 14U Select Baseball Festival will experience a weekend that is about much more that baseball. While the game itself will be a focal point, so will the players' interaction, fundraising and experience with children undergoing pediatric cancer treatment through Barbara's Friends at Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida.
NOTE: Fundraising competition cutoff is 7 PM EST on Saturday, September 4. Top fundraisers will receive their awards at the banquet.
Proceeds of the Perfect Game 14U Select Baseball Festival go to support pediatric cancer research and treatment through Barbara's Friends at Golisano Children's Hospital and underserved youth across America through the Perfect Game Cares Foundation's Grow the Game Fund. The Barbara's Friends Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Outpatient Center at Golisano Children's Hospital has treated more than 10,000 children with cancer and blood disorders. These young patients and their families face many challenges physically, emotionally and financially. More than half of the children treated for cancer at Golisano Children's Hospital are uninsured, on Medicaid or have no form of payment. Through Barbara's Friends and the more than $20 million given by supporters, families are able to focus on helping their kids and no child is denied treatment because of their family's inability to pay for services.
14U Select Baseball Festival Players:
In the weeks leading up to the game, every player in the Perfect Game 14U Select Baseball Festival will have the opportunity to conduct an online fundraising contest to raise funds for pediatric cancer patients and underserved youth. Last year's participants raised in excess of $81,000, bringing the total to more than $209,000.
Who were the top fundraisers in 2020?
Jack Frankel at $11,175 and Andre Modugno at $9,400!
"The Perfect Game Cares Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, is proud to partner with our 14U, 13U and 12U Select Baseball Festival players to raise important funds for the children and families battling cancer as well as children from America's most at risk communities," said Jennifer Ford, Executive Director of Perfect Game Cares. "Together we are one step closer to changing the narrative for these beautiful children."
There is no greater gift than keeping families strong and together during a difficult time. If we can alleviate stress on a family, encourage a brother or sister and comfort a sick child, then we will make a difference in the fight against cancer.
Every dollar counts in the race to save the life of a child battling cancer. Meet this year's MVP, Jordan!
The Game's History
The premier showcase event at the 14U level in all of youth baseball, is set to return for 2021. Activities surrounding the 6th Annual Perfect Game 14U Select Baseball Festival will take place over Labor Day Weekend.
The game itself will be played over Labor Day Weekend and will be live-streamed on PerfectGame.TV. Many of the specific details of the four-day schedule are still being finalized.
FREE GAME TICKETS AVAILABLE
Beginning in 2018, PG Cares extended free tickets to all local families for admission to the game. We will continue that tradition in 2021 and hope to see the stands full of local families. It will be a great day at the park, watching the best of 14U players, while raising money for the children experiencing pediatric cancer and underserved youth.
